Premier Golda Meir made it clear again last night that Israel would defend the lives of her citizens here and abroad by whatever means it can. “We have nothing to be ashamed of. Let those who censure us be ashamed – I am sure they know in their hearts that we are right.”
Addressing a celebration at Kibbutz Naan marking the 25th anniversary of the founding of the new immigrants moshavim, Mrs. Meir said that “Jews have the sympathy of the world only when they are victims of persecution, when they are led to holocausts. But when they defend themselves they spoil the image of the pitiful Jew, and people are angry at them because of that.”
