Mrs. Israel Zangwill, widow of the noted Jewish writer, will be the guest of honor at a reception and tea which will be tendered her by Mrs. Felix M. Warburg and Mrs. Rebekah Kohut, on the afternoon of Tuesday, February 21, at the American Women’s Association Clubhouse, between three and five o’clock.

Prominent Jewish women, active in the civic, social and philanthropic affairs of the community, will be present. The reception is to be arranged under the auspices of the American Beth Jacob Committee, of which Rabbi Leo Jung is Chairman, and Mrs. Kohut is Vice-Chairman.

Mrs. Zangwill has been in America the past few months, speaking before various groups in behalf of world peace. She came here as the guest of the Women’s National League for Peace and Freedom.

The American Beth Jacob Committee is composed of prominent men and women interested in helping to secure support for the work of the organization, which maintains over two hundred schools throughout Eastern and Central Europe, caring for over 300,000 young Jewish girls. The purpose of the movement is to provide vocational, religious and academic training for Jewish girls, who otherwise have no means of obtaining such training. The movement was organized in 1923 to reclaim those Jewish girls in Eastern Europe, who, because of the War and the economic crises, were easy victims of destructive movements and some, even, of the white slave traffic. During the ten years of its existence, it has done much preventive work along these lines, equipping many thousands of these girls with means of making a living both for themselves and for their families, and of instilling in them a spiritual and moral courage to withstand the temptations under the continuing economic conditions that are prevalent in Eastern and Central Europe.

The members of the American Beth Jacob Committee are: Rabbi Leo Jung, Chairman; Mrs. Rebekah Kohut, Mrs. S. H. Golding, Vice-Chairmen; Mrs. Abraham Bricken, Mrs. Louis Finkelstein, Mrs. Gabriel Hamburger, Mrs. Paul Herzog, Mrs. Max L. Levenson, Mrs. I. Liberman, Mrs. Alex Marks, Mrs. Albert J. May, Rabbi Louis I. Newman, Judge Otto A. Rosalsky, Rev. Dr. Nathan Stern, Miss Hana Schmidt, Mrs. Esther Surut, Mrs. Louis Surut, Dr. S. Tedesche, Mrs. Mary Winik.
