Miss Gertrude Goldman of 441 South First street, Mount Vernon, was adjudged winner of the contest for the best reply of 750 words on the series of articles, “Let’s Take Stock,” by Abel Borden, which appeared in The Bulletin last month.
Mr. Borden, who judged the replies, informed The Bulletin that Miss Goldman’s criticism of his four articles for their failure to penetrate deeply into the basic causes of the situation he described, and her comments on the causes and remedy of the present state of affairs in American Jewish life, impressed him most of the many letters received.
