An independent, Arab Palestine would be the only “just and reasonable solution” of the present crisis from the Arab viewpoint, the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem told the Havas News Agency last night on his return here from Mecca.
His remarks were occasioned by a request for comment on British reports that division of Palestine into two states–one Jewish, the other Arab — is under consideration.
The Grand Mufti urged the following two steps toward ending racial and political unrest in the Holy Land:
1–Abolition of the British Mandate.
2–Conclusion of an Anglo-Palestinian treaty modeled after the France-Syrian and Anglo-Iraquian pacts.
He warned that “Great Britain cannot disavow its undertakings toward Palestine if it plans to retain friendly relations with the Arabs, the Moslems and the entire world.
