SUPPORT OF A PLAN BROACHED BY PRESIDENT JUDAH MAGNES OF THE HEBREW UNIVERSITY IN JERUSALEM, FOR A SOLUTION OF THE PALESTINE PROBLEM BASED ON A BI-NATIONAL STATE RATHER THAN PARTITION, WAS EXPRESSED TODAY AT A STUDENT ZIONIST MEETING IN LONDON UNIVERSITY BY MUSSA HUSSEINI, A COUSIN OF JERUSALEM’S EXILED MUFTI.
DISCUSSING THE POSSIBILITIES OF ARAB-JEWISH COOPERATION, HUSSEINI STATED THAT UNLESS AND AGREEMENT WERE REACHED ALONG THE LINES OF THE MAGNES PROPOSALS, A CLASH WOULD BE INEVITABLE. HE SAID A ROUNDTABLE CONFERENCE WAS THE ONLY SOLUTION OF THE IMPASSE BUT THAT THIS WOULD BE FUTILE WITHOUT A BASIS FOR AGREEMENT HAVING BEEN REACHED BEFOREHAND. HUSSEINI EMPHASIZED THAT HE WAS EXPRESSING ONLY HIS PERSONAL VIEWS AND DID NOT REPRESENT ANY FAMILY PARTY.
