The Mukhtar of the Bedouin Tribe, Al Samalni, in the neighborhood of Safed issued a denial that he and his tribe intends to return to Judaism.
Letters signed by the leaders of the tribe, addressed to the Rabbis of Safed and the Chief Rabbi of Palestine, as previously recorded, had conveyed the application of the tribe to return to Judaism on the ground that according to tradition, the tribe was of Jewish origin.
