The Roman-Byzantine ruins of Esbeita, in southern Palestine, will be explored by a Joint expedition of New York University and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, it was announced Saturday by Chancellor Harry Woodburn Chase of the university. The expedition, to be known as the Colt Archaeological Expedition, will be directed by H. Dunscombe Colt, who has been associated with Sir Flinders Petrie in work at Gaza.
Mr. Colt is now enroute to Palestine. The other members of the expedition are to leave shortly.
