Myrtle Lifland won first place and a gold medal at the third annual oratorical contest of the Junior Society of Temple Emanu-El yesterday morning. The winner’s topic was “The United States should recognize Manchukuo.”
Second place went to James Greenwood, who spoke on the “Lost Generation.” Arthur Strassburger took third prize with his talk on “Anti-Warism.”
Rabbi Nathan A. Perilman was chairman of the contest. The judges were Bertrand Bowitz and Ira J. Palestin. Stanley Gewirtz is chairman of the Debating and Oratorical Society at Temple Emanu-El.
