The National Community Relations Advisory Council, central advisory body of eight national organisations and 78 local Jewish council, opened its annual plenary session here today with 250 delegates from all parte of the country attending. The four-day session will deal with policy matters concerning major issues affecting Jewish community relations in this country.
The sessions will assess the current status of anti-Semitism in the country, the role of Jewish community relations in international affairs and developments in the Radical Right movement. It will also discuss civil rights, the church-state issue, the war against poverty, individual freedom and Jewish security and other topics of interest to American Jewry.
Workshop sessions today concerned the situation of the Jews in the Soviet Union and a number of domestic problems. President Johnson sent a message of greeting to the plenary meeting which was read by NCRAC chairman Aaron. Goldman, of Washington, D.C. The President stressed the new legislation combined with existing programs will promote civil rights and combat discrimination.
