A special session of the New Jersey State Legislature called by Gov. Moore for the purpose of selecting another date for the special election on the proposed constitutional amendment convended on Thursday in Trenton. The date for the election was first set for Sept. 27, the first day of Rosh Hashanah. Upon the protest of Jewish organizations, Gov. Moore called the special session to set another date for the elections. It is believed that the date will be changed to Sept. 20.
A state organization for the United Palestine Appeal in South Carolina was effected at a meeting held in Charleston. Samuel Rittenberg was elected state chairman, Rabbi Jacob S. Raisin vice-chairman, and Sol Goldman, secretary. Mr. Rittenberg will also head the drive in Charleston which will be launched on May 15.
