After a conference with a delegation of Jewish War Veterans, Commissioner of Public Safety Leonard F. Marcy yesterday directed Chief of Police John J. Simmon to prevent any meeting of the Friends of New Germany at Schutzen Park here.

The rally of the Nazi group had been scheduled for Thursday.

Commissioner Marcy explained his action, saying he is “following a course pursued by other communities, notably Union City, which has consistently banned meetings of the pro-Nazi society.”

“The Jewish delegation,” he said, “pointed out that the Friends of New Germany stirs up sectional and racial feeling which eventually leads to trouble.”
