Leaders in the financial, industrial, real estate and insurance fields who were the guests of Felix M. Warburg, at a luncheon at the Mid-Day Club, Thursday, volunteered their services as canvassers in the “drive” of the New York Allied Jewish Campaign for $2,500,000 toward $6,000,000 that is being raised nationally for the 1930 budgets of the Joint Distribution Committee and the Jewish Agency for Palestine.
Those who were present at the luncheon and pledged their personal efforts to the campaign were Paul Mazur, Sam Rosoff, Roger W. Straus, Joseph Bach, Samuel Bayer, Louis E. Berman, C. J. Epstein, Elisha M. Friedman, Dr. Max Heller, Arthur C. Lamport, Alexander Landesco, Louis Lowinson, Dr. Henry Moskowitz, John Polachek, Joseph Polstein, Benjamin C. Ribman, Bernard Rosenblatt, Charles A. Rogers, Harold Riegelman, Robert Seelat and Albert Sokolski.
Speaking of the Jews of Eastern Europe, Mr. Warburg said they were not a people who wanted to subsist on charity. “They are the same type of hard-working, self-respecting people as constitute the bulk of New York’s Jewish population, and after all, they are our kin. They are making a splendid fight to lift themselves up, and will succeed if only their American brethren will help them.”
Others who spoke at the luncheon were Paul Baerwald, a national chairman of the Allied Jewish Campaign, and Harry L. Glucksman, general director of the New York “drive” for $2,500,000.
Friday, Mr. Warburg was the host, at a luncheon, at the Hotel Biltmore, in honor of County Judge Albert Cohn, who is Bronx chairman of the New York Allied Jewish Campaign.

Irwin Untermyer, Mr. and Mrs. Philip Wattenberg, $1,250—Simon Ackerman, Max Jonas, $1,000—Mrs. Abram I. Elkus, Mrs. Rebekah Kohut, Mrs. Irving Lehman, Mrs. Joseph Stroock, Mrs. B. K. Marcus, Mrs. Isaac Polstein, American Radiator Company.
