Discrimination in employment in New York State #### decreased since the establishment of the State Commission Against Discrimination, under the Ives Quinn Law, according to a report submitted to Gov. Dewey.
The Commission said that 752 complaints were received during 1946, of which 442 came from Negroes, 118 from Jews and 32 from persons of Italian extraction. Two hundred and ninety cases were settled through conferences, 277 were withdrawn, rejected or declared outside the Commission’s jurisdiction and the remainder are still under investigation. In no cases was punitive action taken.
