Gratification was expressed here today by the American Jewish Tercentenary Committee at the decision of the New York State Legislature to participate in the observance of the 300th anniversary of Jewish settlement in the United States by appointing a 25-member “Joint Legislative Committee for the American Jewish Tercentenary.”
A resolution to this effect was adopted unanimously last Thursday by the Senate and Assembly, It provides that the joint committee shall consist of “three members of the Senate, to be appointed by the temporary president of the Senate, three members of the Assembly, to be appointed by the speaker of the Assembly, and 19 members to be appointed by the Governor.” The resolution also authorized Governor Dewey to designate a chairman for the committee and appropriated $5,000 for committee activities.
