The New York State Commission Against Discrimination will re-examine a 1950 ruling in which it decided that the refusal to hire Jews for work in Saudi Arabia was not discriminatory. The complaint then and now was lodged against the Arabian-American oil Company.
The decision by Charles Abrams, SCAD chairman, to re-open the case against Aramco came on a complaint filed last week by the American Jewish Congress, which also charged that the oil company discriminates against Jews as employees in its New York offices. Mr. Abrams said that the re-examination of the 1950 ruling would be made because of is resolution adopted by the Senate last week urging that discrimination against American citizens should be excluded in negotiations between the United States and any foreign power.
