Police reported Friday that a Staten Island synagogue was smeared with swastikas and that a synagogue in Brooklyn was the target of a break-in and robbery, in the latest manifestations of anti-Semitic acts in New York State.
The young Israel of Staten Island was daubed with the world “Jew” and with swastikas. In Brooklyn, Rabbi Joel Aschkenosay of the Ohav Zedek congregation reported that thieves broke into the synagogue through a basement window and stole prayer shawls and silver ornaments from Torah Scrolls of the synagogue.
