More than 1,800 women participated today in the formal opening of the 23rd annual campaign of the Women’s Division of the United Jewish Appeal of Greater New York by attending a round table discussion on the theme “Israel Tomorrow,” which was held in the Hotel Waldorf-Astoria.
Prior to the round table discussion, 1,000 of the women attended four simultaneous luncheons at the Waldorf, and announced personal contributions totaling $1,100,000 to the 1961 campaign of the United Jewish Appeal. Mrs. Francis J. Bloustein and Mrs. Harold J. Cohen, chairmen of the Women’s Division drive, announced that the campaign would now be carried forward in communities throughout the metropolitan area.
