Nahum Stutchkov, author and radio commentator, will be the recepient of the 1950 prize for the best works in Yiddish literature awarded every year by the Yiddish Cultural Congress, it was announced last night at a meeting of the Congress at Hotel Commodore. The prize, which carries $300 in cash, will be presented to Mr. Stutchkov for his book “The Treasury of Yiddish Language.”
The meeting decided to proclaim the year 1951 as ” J.L. Peretz Year” in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the birth of the noted Yiddish writer, who was considered one of the ” fathers of Yiddish literature.”
