The office of the Nansen Relief Mission in the United States has announced the suspension of its food draft service for individuals in Russia, which it inaugurated at the time of the cessation of this work by the American Relief Administration. The reason given for this action is that the stock of food purchased for Russian relief by the High Commission of Dr. Fridtjof Nansen has now been exhausted, and so the general relief work of the Nansen Mission is now in process of liquidation, it has not been considered advisable to renew the stock.
Clothing for general relief distribution in Russia will still be received by the American Nansen Committee for Relief of Russian Children, as well as funds for child salvage, medicines and other supplies for hospitals. Gut no further food drafts, clothing drafts or relief packages will be forwarded by the Nansen office to individuals in Russia.
Dr. Nansen’s international committee for medical relief in Russia is making an appeal for aid by physicians, and it is announced that Dr. Peter P. Lazareff, of the Russian Academy of Medicine, head of the Physiological Institute of Moscow, and the discoverer of the Kursk animali, will visit the United States in December on this errand.
