The United Arab Republic will demand of United Nations Secretary General Dag Hammarskjold when he visits Cairo that the UN Emergency Force be withdrawn from the Sinai Peninsula and the Gaza Strip, the Cairo radio indicated today.

Cairo would agree to the continued presence of UNEF troops only if they were also posted on the Israeli side of the demarcation line, the radio said. In that event, Cairo would want UNEF merged with the United Nations Truce Supervision Organization and have the combined unit police all of Israel’s borders with her neighbors. It added that the United Arab Republic would also raise the question of the Arab refugees with Mr. Hammarskjold.
