Agents of President Gamal Abdul Nasser of Egypt are active throughout Latin America, particularly in military circles, Mark Turkow, Latin American representative of the World Jewish Congress, asserted here today.
In a series of articles written for Di Yiddishe Zeitung, largest Jewish daily newspaper in Latin America, Mr. Turkow stressed the influence of the military groups in the recent abortive subversions attempted in Peru and Argentina. He also emphasized the intense activity developed by the military attaches in Egyptian embassies in various Latin American capitals.
The Egyptian agents, Mr. Turkow points out, openly calling themselves “Nasserists,” are promoting an ideology similar to Nasser’s revolution in Egypt as a movement nationalistic in essence and revolutionary in the social field and as a reaction against “imperialist” and “Castroist” influences.
