The National Institute of Social Science yesterday conferred its Gold Medal on four citizens, three men and one woman, for outstanding services rendered in various fields of activity, one of whom was Nathan Straus. He was honored in recognition of his distinguished and widespread social service rendered in behalf of humanity, and in particular for organizing and maintaining the system of distribution of pasteurized milk for the poor of New York City, and for a like service to the needy in other cities in this country and abroad.
