Nation-wide Memorial Exercises Next Sunday for Louis Marshall

Jewish communities in cities throughout the country are arranging to hold memorial services next Sunday for the late Louis Marshall in connection with the national memorial meeting to be held at Temple Emanu-El, New York on that day, under the auspices of the Marshall Memorial Committee representing Temple Emanu-El, the Jewish Theological Seminary and the American Jewish Committee.

Acting on the suggestion of the Memorial Committee, the officers of the Union of American Hebrew Congregations, the Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations, and the United Synagogue of America, representing the leading Jewish congregations of the country, have urged their constituent groups to hold meetings on the same day, November 10.

More than 60 national organizations, legal, civic, philanthropic and religious, non-Jewish and well as Jewish, with which Mr. Marshall was connected have been invited to send delegates to the services. One hundred and seventy-five members of the American Jewish Committee who are coming from all parts of the country to attend the 23rd Annual Meeting of the Committee on November 10, will pay tribute to the memory of Mr. Marshall who was one of the founders of the Committee in 1906 and its President from 1912 to the time of his death.

The joint committee which is in charge of the national memorial services comprises: Dr. Cyrus Adler. Chairman: David M. Bressler. Philip J. Goodhart. William I. Spiegelberg, Lewis L. Strauss, Solomon M. Stroock, Israel Unterberg. Ludwig Vogelstein, Morris D. Waldman, and Felix M. Warburg.
