Judge Louis E. Levinthal, President of the Zionist Organisation of America, today announced that leading national Jewish organizations and fraternal bodies numbering more than a million members have indicated their readiness to participate in the nation-wide observance of the twenty-fourth anniversary of the issuance of the Balfour Declaration on November 2, 1941.
Among the national bodies that have issued calls to their members to join in the observance of Balfour Day, are the Independent Order B’nai B’rith, The Rabbinical Assembly of America, Jewish War Veterans of New York, The Independent Order B’rith Abraham, The Union of Orthodox Congregations, The Union of Orthodox Rabbis; The Rabbinical Association of the Hebrew Theological College, and The Women’s League of the United Synagogue of America.
Balfour Day will be marked in more than 500 communities with memorials for the late Justice Louis D. Brandeis. His memory will be honored at rallies sponsored by the Zionist Organisations of America in conjunction with its constituent organisations and other Zionist bodies.
