Presidents of leading national Jewish organizations today issued a call to Jewish parents throughout the country, urging them to register their children in religious schools during Jewish Education Month which concludes on October 10. The Month is sponsored by the American Association for Jewish Education with the cooperation of the National Council for Jewish Education.
Those who signed the call include Frank Weil, president of the Jewish Welfare board; Henry Monsky, B’nai B’rith president; Sidney Hollander, president of the Council of Jewish Federations and Welfare Funds; Judge Louis E. Levinthal, president of the Zionist Organization of America; Dr. Israel Goldstain, president of the Synagogue Council of America; Mrs. David de Sola Pool, Hadassah president; and Mrs. Maurice L. Goldman, president of the National Council of Jewish Women. Also Bernard Semel, chairman of the Jewish Education Month Committee; Mark Eisner, president of the American Association for Jewish Education; Rabbi Samuel M. Blumenfeld, president of the National Council for Jewish Education; and others.
Simultaneously, a group of New York Jewish leaders issued a call to Jewish organizations to cooperate in the work of promoting Jewish education in New York. The group includes Justice Samuel I. Rosenman, Judge Johah J. Goldstein, Rabbi David de Sola Pool, and I. Edwin Goldwasser.
