Representatives of men’s clubs affiliated with Conservative congregations throughout the United States will meet at the Hotel Grossman here tomorrow, for the sixth annual convention of the National Federation of Jewish Men’s Clubs of the United Synagogue of America. Sessions will continue through Sunday night.
There will be no formal sessions tomorrow, but an evening service will be held for the delegates at which the principal speakers will be A. J. Leonard of Philadelphia and Rabbi William S. Malev of Jamaica, L. I.
SATURDAY’S PROGRAM
Services also will be held Saturday morning at which the sermon will be preached by Dr. Reuben S. Kaufman of Paterson. At the luncheon the principal speaker will be Rabbi Louis J. Hahn of New York City. During the afternoon regional conferences will be held.
A banquet will take place Saturday night. The principal speakers will be Edward Weinrib of Mt. Vernon, N. Y., honorary president of the Federation, and Dr. Elias Margolis, president of the Rabbinical Assembly of the Jewish Theological Seminary of America.
The main business sessions of the convention will open Sunday morning with Isador B. Rosman of New York City, chairman of the convention committee, presiding.
The opening prayer will be delivered by Rabbi Benjamin H. Englander of Philadelphia. Greetings will then be extended to the delegates by Rabbi Nisson Waxman of Lakewood, Mrs. Elias Margolis, representing the women’s league of the United Synagogue of America, and Bernard S. Karmatz of Philadelphia, president of the young people’s league of the United Synagogue.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
Following the president’s address by Theodore Charnas of New York City, the convention will receive reports of the year’s activities by chairmen of standing committees.
Rabbi Joseph Miller of Brooklyn will read the report of the committee on education, Jess Finkle of New York City will present an account of Boy Scout activities, and Louis Soll, also of this city, will give the treasurer’s report.
The afternoon session will be presided over by President Charnas. Reports of regional conferences will then be laid before the delegates.
The main address of the afternoon will be given by Sylvan K. Kohn of Newark, who will speak on the advantages of national organization with respect to the men’s clubs. The remainder of the business session will be taken up with reports of the committees on resolutions and nominations.
