The refugee ship Navemar, now anchored off Lisbon harbor, is expected to sail for New York on Friday or Saturday. The exact sailing date depends on how soon the United States consulate here can complete the reexamination and reinsurance of the expired visas of 250 of the refugees aboard the vessel.
Meanwhile, the Jewish relief organizations here are keeping in close contact with the operators of the Navemar to assure remedying of the unbearable conditions described by this correspondent earlier in the week. Supplies are being unloaded aboard the vessel, which still remains moored in mid-stream, the Portuguese police having refused to permit the ship to dock.
