A bitter attack against Salmon O. Levinson, chairman of the Chicago Committee for the Defense of Human Rights Against Nazism, which is carrying on an active campaign to boycott Nazi-made goods, and on the committee, was delivered at a meeting of the Friends of New Germany at the Reichshalle here.
Morton Medenwald, alien resident of the United States for more than fifteen years, and editor of the weekly paper published in Chicago by the German-American Citizens’ League, was the Nazi who assailed Levinson. Medenwald is notorious in Chicago because of his vehement attacks against the American government and his refusal to become a citizen of this “swinish land,” as he characterizes it.
He declared that Levinson is a “racketeer” and so are all connected with or working with the committee. He said it would be a good thing if they (the Nazis) could compile a list of all connected with the committee to save for future reference so that these individuals may be “paid back” later when the Nazis have the upper hand. His tirade lasted more than half an hour.
