Germans are finding it an expensive business to obtain certificates of “Aryan” descent, without which persons have a hard time of it under the manifold regulations requiring proof of descent.
The Evangelic churches alone have furnished no less than 12,500,000 certificates of “Aryan” descent, it is announced in the clerical newspapers, and have made a pretty pfennig in the process.
For each certificate issued the churches charge a fee of 60 pfennig. On top of this the applicant must pay 150 pfennig for every hour spent finding the necessary data. These charges are standard and set by the Reichministry for Church Affairs.
Most of the documents which must be consulted are old, some of them dating back to 1800.
