The problem of the Jews in Germany was one of the first questions taken up today at the opening session of a congress of Nazi district leaders called to school them in various basic problems arising in their districts.
The delegates to the parley, which is being held in a castle near Falkenburg, Pommern, were addressed by General Werner von Blomberg, Minister of Defence; Dr. Robert Ley, head of the German Labor Front, and Dr. Gross, head of the Race Department of the Nazi Party.
During the ten-day congress, the delegates will hear speeches from practically every cabinet member with the significant exception of Dr. Hjalmar Schacht, Minister of Economics, and Konstantin von Neurath, Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Newspapers hailed the conference as “the political academy of the German nation,” declaring that the problem of the Jews was still very acute.
In an address at today’s session, Dr. Gross outlined the “racial-political view” which, he said, district leaders are expected to develop in their territories.
