The program of revoking the citizenship of approximately 10,000 East European Jews naturalized in Prussia alone is nearing completion, according to an official announcement made here today.

Ministerial Director Herring, who is in charge of the survey of acquired citizenship rights, declared today that authorities intend to carry out strictly the decree of the Nazi cabinet, ordering the revocation of citizenship of Jews naturalized since November, 1918. German-born wives and children of naturalized East European Jews also will forfeit their rights when the naturalization papers of their husbands and fathers are withdrawn.

DRIVE IS COUNTRY-WIDE

The campaign to deprive the East European Jews of their citizenship rights acquired after the World War is being waged most energetically by German authorities not only in Prussia, but also in all the other States. The German government makes no secret of the cancellations of citizenship and announces them frequently. {SPAN}A###{/SPAN} announcement yesterday disclosed that in Berlin alone 207 Jews were deprived of citizenship.

Efforts are being made by Jewish organizations to have German-born wives excluded from the edict. Under the Prussian law, widows or divorcees automatically regain their Prussian nationality, considered lost when they had married. It is on this basis that the Jewish organizations hope to retain citizenship rights for the German-born wives of East European Jews.

The Juedische Rundschau, official organ of the Zionist organization in Germany, carries a long front page article on the question of Jewish citizenship in Germany The paper discloses that the German government is now rackin# its brain over the question of depriving, not only Jews who were naturalized during the war, but also Jews who were born in Germany and whose fathers and forefathers were German citizens, of their rights.
