Wilhelm Harster, 61, a former SS general, was arrested here yesterday on suspicion in complicity in the murder of Anne Frank. Two of his wartime assistants were arrested with him.
Harster was held on charges of complicity in murder in 83, 000 cases as head of the Nazi Security Service which was responsible for the transport of many Jews to Nazi death camps. Arrested with him were Wilhelm Zoepf, 57, on suspicion of aiding in 94,328 murders and Gertrud Slotke, suspected of aiding in 93,328 murders.
