Representative Samuel Dickstein, chairman of the House Immigration Committee, will definitely serve as a member of the committee to be appointed this week with the object of investigating Nazi propaganda in the United States. He will not act as chairman of the committee, which is to be headed by a non-Jew.
According to reliable information the committee will include besides Mr. Dickstein, a Catholic, a Protestant, a representative of German origin and a free-thinker.
Speaker Rainey will offer the appointment as chairman to Mr. Dickstein as a gesture of appreciation for his work, but it is expected that he will refuse on the supposition that the work of the committee may be hampered with a Jewish representative at its head.
In addition there will be special counsel for the committee and special investigators hired to track down Nazi propaganda outfits in the United States.
