The Gazeta Israelita of Sao Paulo, Brazil, says of Nazi propaganda in that country:
During the past few years the Jews of the interior, especially in the Estado de Sao Paulo, have been alarmed by the Jew-baiting propaganda which has appeared in their cities. Integralist (Fascist) agitators, inspired by German Nazis, make the rounds of the towns of the interior, deliver speeches inciting to action against the Jews, spread libels of the Streicher brand and poison the attitude of the Brazilian masses against the Jews.
From many towns of the interior people have come to us with advice about what ought to be done. The only remedy, as we have said many times, is a united Jewish representative body and a closer contact with the Brazilian press, through which the masses of Brazilians could be reached by a counter-propaganda in which the absurdity of the propaganda and the true aim of the agitators could be shown up.
At the present moment this is the only means. A well-organized body representing all the Jews could present proof to the authorities of the harmfulness of the hateful propaganda, which is against the spirit of the Brazilian constitution and a danger to the internal order of the land.
