Amid sharp public protest, a Danish Nazi sympathizer has been named lecturer at the Aarhus University it was revealed here this weekend, Poul Heinrich Rile-Knudsen, who has never hidden his admiration for Hitler and the Third Reich, is due to begin teaching German literature and language at Aarhus Sept. 1.
The university faculty dean Prof. Ernst Ditmer, said Riis-Knudsen was chosen because he was the best qualified among the four candidates applying for the position. He added that the “political sympathies of our professors” do not concern the university. Last year, Riis-Knudsen was appointed to teach a course in “The Science of Fascism and Nazism.” at the university, but public outrage forced the college officials to cancel his appointment.
