The West German Government today asked the International Red Cross to act as disbursing agent for monies granted persons behind the Iron Curtain entitled to compensation for having been victims of Nazi medical experiments during the war. Germany has no diplomatic relations with Hungary, Poland, Rumania and Czechoslovakia, where many of these victims of nazism now live.
The West German Foreign Office said today that it will be helped by the International Red Cross in a program of aiding victims of inhuman experiments in Nazi concentration camps. The Red Cross will act as an intermediary between the West German Government and victims, thus making aid possible for persons residing in countries, such as Poland, which do not maintain diplomatic relations with the Federal Republic.
