Josef Poell, considered one of the most savage Nazi war criminals ever tried in an Austrian court, was free today on presidential amnesty after serving only four months of a 20-year sentence. He was sentenced on conviction of charges he had personally murdered Polish Jews at Boryslaw and acted as an assistant in the shooting of Jews there.
