The International Country Club, of which many Jews prominent in the social life of Austria are members, notably the Rothschild family, was attacked at midnight by a throng of Nazis seeking to victimize the Jewish frequenters.
With “Judaea Perish” as their battle cry, the Nazis proceeded to attack all within sight. No Jews were injured but many Christian notables suffered. Many diplomats were attacked, including the Argentine and Roumanian Ambassadors, the Military attache of the Italian Embassy, and the Secretary of the Jugoslavian Embassy.
Several women were insulted, including Countess Hahnfeld, wife of the Austrian Councillor of the Washington Embassy.
