Pointing out that the National Socialist movement respects the decisions of the Government and does not intend to hinder the Jews of Upper Silesia who were ordered reinstated in their civil and political rights yesterday by adoption of the Lester report by the Council of the League of Nations, the National Socialist Party bureau for the district comprising the Upper Silesian industrial cities has issued an appeal urging the population not to patronize reinstated Jewish lawyers.
The stand of the party in respect to Government decisions, the appeal carefully pointed out, does not mean that National Socialists and “conscious” Germans should give an opportunity to the reinstated lawyers of “foreign origin” to regain their influence over German legal life.
The municipality of Glatz resolved yesterday to withdraw all its official announcements from newspapers publishing advertisements of Jewish firms.
“The German Government will naturally respect the Council’s decision in the Bernheim case as it has other League decisions. Practically, however, today’s decision is not of special importance.” This was the conclusion of the Berliner Tageblatt regarding the Geneva decision yesterday. Other Berlin newspapers which featured the League action in the Bernheim case did not comment on it.
