‘nazis’ Fight’ Called Effort at Deception

This isthe second of two articles by Mr. Fischer in which anti-Semitic allegations contained in “Germany’s Figk for Western Civilization,” the pamphlet which Nazi agents are attempting to distribute in this contry, are systematically refuted. The first article appeared in Friday’s issue

And then come the pictures of Kurt Eisner and his adherents, who were responsible for the revolution in Munich. When anxious Munich Jews implored Eisner, on their bended knee, to halt in his activity, he said to them: “Gentlemen, you forget that I am a Social Democrat and not a Jew.” The leading National Socialists, with Hitler and Goebbels at the head, are Catholics. Will it occur to anyone to accuse teh Catholies of Germany of the “national revolution”?

Herr Jamrowski informs the world, with astute propagandist art, that not only political and cultural Bolshevism (“A Jewish importation”) found its way into Prussia and Germany but that the Jews transformed the erstwhile righteous Prussias into an evilsmelling nest of corruption Again, old cittures in new frames: Sklareks, Barmat, Butiskers. Let us therefore make a brief survey of the malodorous corrption in purely “Aryan” circles, in order to reveal this vicious propaganda in its true light:

In 1919, the German Officials’ Bank failed. The victims belonged almost exclusively to the lower ranks of government officials. The Central Loan Society, which failed in 1930, ruined thousands of the lower Bavarian Railroad Bank in 1930 exceeded many times the damage wrought by the Barmat failure. All these Financial institutions were “Aryans,” and the “people’s” press evinced no interest in these failures and the corruption uncovered

The Lahusen scandal in Bremen revealed that Lahusen, at least in directly, had shown great interest in the Hitlr movement. The failure affected German econmic life more adversely than any other crash had. Nevertheless, the Hitler press took this gentleman under its wing. And, although the losses in the Lahusen case were many times larger than those in the Schulthel failure, the pamphlt under discussion reproduces the picture of the Schuthei director, Katzenellenbogen (in cidcntal ly baptized into the Catholic faith), but there is no picture shown of Lahusen. The following caption is found under Katzenellenbogen’s portrait: “Director Gerneral Ludwing Katzenellembogen, manager of the greatest brewing usiness in Germany, as condemned to three months’ imprisonment for breach of trust in 1932, after he had brought the business to the verge of ruin.”

PASTOR IMPRISONED

None but small savers suffered losses in the case of the Berlin Evangelical Institution, and Pastor Cremer was sentenced on July 30, 1932 to two years in jail. In the trial of the Stiedfel sugar firm, a purely “Aryan” concern, the defendants were sentenced to long prison terms in Hamburg and to pay a total of 80,000,000 marks in fines. And the corruption scandal of the Osthilfe which overshadows all others-What has Herr Hitler done about this greatest of all swindles Germany has ever known? History has an answer ready to this question: he has done precisely nothing, because he owes the Osthilfe a never-to-beforgotten debt of gratitude. The Nazis’ accession to power was the price paid for hushing up this scandal.

The greatest scandal the world has ever known-the Reichstag firs-is still to be exposed-Jews, here too, Herr Goering!

What else is there in this pamphlet of vilification?

A picture showing the struggles of the communists against the church. Why do not the pagan worshippers of Wotan point to themselves?

Next comes a full page reproduction of the Welt am Abend, the best read paper in Berlin, prior to 1933, published by Will Muenzenberg. It was inconsiderate, indeed, on the part of Muenzenberg to have published a more readable newspaper than Herr Goebbels’ Der Angriff. Besides, was it not Muenzenberg who taught Goebbels how to make up a paper?

Karl Liebknecht? An honest fanatic who forced the German republic to fight on two frounts and to whom Hitler should be grateful. The Republic had not atoned for Liebknecht’s assassination.

Rosa Luxembourg? A radical woman with a great soul. The Republic has not atoned for Rosa’s assassination.

Oscar Cohn? The kind0hearted sage now residing in Paris, busy day and night, trying to save as many Jews as possible from German paranoia.

The Rotters? Good theatiracl men, but poor business men and somewhat light-minded in t he bargain. Had they produced some of Goebbels’ silly plays they would have never climbed to the heights of greatness and renown. They they would have had a chance to would have sunk in oblivion before rise. And it might have been better for them. On of the brothers “expiated” his sins. Is this not enough of an atonement?

DR. HIRSCHFIELD, TOO

And, finally, after Kurt Tucholski, the giffted wit and humorist, come the last in the “Rogues’ Gallery”-Magnus Hirschfield, “the man who cemmercialized sexual science.” Such are the thanks he gets from Roehn.. Roehm is now Minister of-“sexual science”? Oh, no-of education. Poor German youth!

I have already mentioned Herr jamrowski’s figure juggling ability. He should be appointed by Hitler commissar of elections in the next voting for members of the Reichstag.

The vicious concoction ends with pictures of synagogues, as if to point out that the Nazis are in favor of religious freedom for Jews. After they have been deprived of their economic, political and social freedom, they are pernitted, on their High Holidays to go to the synagogues, unmol sted. How humane! For three years progroms took place regularly on the Kurfuerstendam in Berlin, in front of the syngogue, and the leaders of these pogroms now hold high posts in the government.

Photographs of the pogroms would have een of much more interest. Even though great pains seem to have been taken to adapt the text of the pamphlet to the mentality of the foreign reader, nevertheless the pictorial part excels the writers’ efforts. No one in New York will be interested to learn that Jews. flock from the country to the large cities, no will any one in Brooklyn worry about the statement that no Jews whatsoever are to be found in the ranks of labor. The statement that workmen among Jews amount to but 9.2 per cent while the number of “”salaried employees” is as high as 33.8 per cent is intended to show that Jews prefer “easy” occupations. That this is not so, any white collar employe in New York will testify, knowing full well that he would rather receive the decent wages of a common worker than his “salary.” The seemingly truthful “accusation” that there were too many Jewish lawyers ad doctore in Germany, will be answered abroad by the brief remark that men who, in a spirit of fair competition, prove themselves capable of attainment are indeed worthwhile. Therefore, hats off to them!

“STATISTICAL PROOF”

The “statistical proofs” spread over a number of pages to the effect that 600,000 “bad” Jews ruined morally a heroic people of Wotan worshippers, 60,000,000 strong, will be met with a derisive smile abroad, where intelligent people will efuse to believe such a subjugation possible. And, finally, the false statement declaring that the German press was for the most part in the hands of the Jews, will be countered by the retort: Even so-still better than the “co-ordinated” New German “freedom” of the press.

And when one reads the last page of the ext which states with sweet simplicity that not a hair has been touched on a Jew’s head, that the Jews was going on with their commercial pursuits “as usual,” one will recall the poor devils the Jews of Zwickall who were taken to the Nazi barracks, tortured almost to death and from there, more dead than alive, removed to a hospital.
