Inhabitants of Philadelphia and vicinity were “requested” today to divert their patronage to firms which are sympathetic to the Friends of New Germany.
A pamphlet published by the German-American Economic Alliance of Pennsylvania, a DAWA affiliate, and distributed through a number of German organizations, lists various approved stores where merchandise may be obtained.
The publication, which is labeled a “trade guide,” declares the present edition is a “preliminary” one and promises “more comprehensive ones will follow within a short time.”
None of the leading department stores, specialty shops hotels and restaurants is listed, and physicians are also omitted.
“Our physicians prefer not to be listed,” it is explained. ‘When in need of medical aid call the DAWA office.” The address is given as Room 1087, Drexel Building.
“Perseverance and tenacity are the prerequisites of the success which we all look forward to,” the pamphlet says.
