A bitter fight has been launched in the different sections of Germany against the orders recently issued by Minister of Economics Schmitt forbidding discriminations against the Jews. All over Germany leaflets are being distributed in the streets, mailed to individuals, and published in the local press.
One of the leaflets, signed by the Treptow Traders Association, warns all Germans that “the Jews are at work again” and urges the German population not to be misled, that the fight against the Jews must continue.
“There is no place for them under our present government or in our Reich,” the leaflet declares. “By patronizing Jews, you are not only damaging German interests, but also the government.
“Can you with a clear conscience hang on Christmas trees presents bought in Jewish shops?” the leaflet asks, reminding the reader that “the Jews crucified Christ.”
The Heidelberg Student, in a long article declares that the Jews are again being impertinent and that “if we do not break windows in Jewish shops, it is because we don’t want to offer ground for atrocity propaganda abroad. But we never cease or tire in propagating the boycott against the Jewish shops and department stores.” Similar boycott articles appear in the Deutscher Apotheker and many other trade papers.
