THE MANCHESTER GUARDIAN, COMMENTING YESTERDAY ON CLOSING OF THE BERLIN BUREAU OF THE J.T.A., SAID THE NAZI AUTHORITIES ACTED “TO DEPRIVE THE JEWISH PRESS THERE OF ITS FOREIGN SERVICE.”
“THERE ARE THREE JEWISH PAPERS,” THE GUARDIAN STATED, “WITH A COMBINED CIRCULATION OF 100,000. THEY ARE NOT ALLOWED TO RECEIVE THE GERMAN NEWS AGENCY SERVICE, NOR MAY THEY PUBLISH NEWS FROM GERMAN SOURCES ABOUT FOREIGN AFFAIRS. THE JEWISH TELEGRAPHIC AGENCY’S BERLIN OFFICE IN THE PAST HAD BEEN ALLOWED TO SUPPLY THEM WITH A FOREIGN NEWS SERVICE.”
