Under the auspices of a committee of which Felix M. Warburg is chairman, a series of nation-wide half-hour broadcasts, entitled “The Message of Israel,” will begin next Friday evening at 10:30 o’clock, over a National Broadcasting Company network. In New York City the program will be heard over WJZ.
The broadcasts will consist of a half-hour of prayer and service in accordance with the Jewish ritual and will include addresses and sermons by outstanding rabbis and appropriate music.
For the first five broadcasts on successive Friday evenings during November, the speaker will be Rabbi Jonah B. Wise of the Central Synagogue, Fifty-fifth street and Lexington avenue, New York City.
Rabbi Wise for the past four years has been chairman of the fund raising committee of the Joint Distribution Committee and is at present co-chairman of the United Jewish Appeal.
Rabbi Wise went to Germany in 1933 shortly after the advent of the Nazi regime, and after conferences with the Jewish leaders in that country organized the work there of ameliorating the disastrous economic plight into which the Jews of that country were so suddenly plunged.
