“near East,” Close to British Foreign Office, Lauds Weizmann-marshall Accord on Jewish Agency

The Weizmann-Marshall agreement concerning the extension of the Jewish Agency is the most important step for the Zionists since the Balfour Declaration, is the opinion of the “Near East.” London magazine considered to be in close touch with the British Foreign Office.

An article in the magazine on the Jewish Agency delclares that the Weizmann-Marshall agreement is a tribure to both the strength and weakness of the Zionist movement. “It is true that there still exists in American some hostility to the idea of nationalizing all Jews, but in general there is more active interest taken in the future of Palestine than at any previous period,” the “Near East” states.

“The fact that the non-partisan commission which is to submit its report to the Jewish Agency will also study the possibilities in the neighboring territory demonstrates how carefully the recommendations of the Commission will have to be laid down. The foreign relations of Palestine are entirely within the diseretion of the British government.

“The report of the non-partisan commission next autumn will be a most eagerly expected document,” the “Near East” declares.
