The Nebraska Legislature, by a vote of 36-0, has urged President Nixon to support the right of Soviet Jews to emigrate, “as affirmed by the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights.” The resolution–introduced by State Senators Sam Klaver, Eugene Maloney and Terry Carpenter–charged that the Soviet government was “persecuting” the country’s minorities and “discriminating” against them in cultural, educational and religious areas. Leas than 1 percent of Nebraska’s population is Jewish.
