Necro Member of U.S. Congress Lauds Israel in House of Representatives

Rep. Charles C. Diggs, Jr., one of the three Negro members of Congress, today paid tribute to Israel’s achievements as a symbol of hope to Chana and other emerging nations.

Rep. Diggs, a Michigan Democrat, recently visited Africa. He described Israel as a revelation of what liberty, justice, integrity, and courage among a free people can offer to a world even in these chaotic times.”

In remarks on the House floor, Rep. Diggs noted the reports in the Negro press of the complete Integration of races” in Israel. He referred to reports by Mrs. Alice Dunnigan, Associated Negro Press reporter who recently returned from a visit to Israel.

Rep. Diggs referred to Mrs, Dunnigan’s report on absence of racial discrimination as exhibited in the composition of the Knesset membership. He said “my tributes to Israel are many” but that his experiences in other new nations had enhanced his appreciation of what Israel has accomplished.
