The High Court here has imposed Lenient sentences on a number of persons involved in the abduction of 14-year-old Jewish war orphan Anneke Beekman–who remains among the missing to this day.
The girl’s former foster mother, Mrs. G.M. Langendy van Moorst, 52, of Hilversum, who is believed to have fled the country, was sentenced to three months imprisonment in absentia. Her sister, Elizabeth van Moorst, 57, who is believed to be in hiding with the Beekman girl–most likely in a Belgian convent–was sentenced to six months in jail. The former Catholic priest Amon, of The Hague, who transported Anneke to Belgium in his automobile, was sentenced to two months detention. Three other defendants were acquired.
