Following the meeting of the Governing Council of the Institute of Jewish Studies at the Hebrew University at Mainz, invitations to join the faculty of the institute have been extended to Dr. Baer of the Berlin Academy for the Study of Judaism to lecture on the Medieval history of the Jews of Western Europe, to Dr. Epstein of London to lecture on Jewish social and economic life in Europe, to Dr. Ahlbeck, of the Berlin High School for the Study of Judaism, to lecture on Halacha and Biblical Exegesis, to Dr. Tcherikower of Tel Aviv to lecture on the history of the Jews in the Hellenistic Age, and to Dr. Diesendruck to lecture on Jewish Philosophy of the Middle Ages.
Professor Klein and Dr. Epstein have been given appointments at the university, and Professor Scholem has been appointed for a period of three years.
The Curatorium of the College for the Study of Judaism has decided to mark Professor Ismar Elbogen’s completion of twenty-five years of work at the college by presenting him and Mrs. Elbogen with a trip to Palestine, They will leave for Palestine soon.
During his stay in Jerusalem Professor Elbogen may deliver a course of lectures at the Institute of Jewish Studies in the Hebrew University.
