The new bridge near the Friedrich-Karl Quay in Berlin will be known as the Hugo Preuss bridge in honor of Hugo Preuss, the Jewish author of the Constitution of the German Republic.
The German Nationals opposed the resolution to name the bridge after Hugo Preuss, but the representatives of the Social Democrats, Democrats, Centre Party and the German People’s Party voted in favor and the resolution was carried by 101 votes against 62.
